The sun is still out! Sure it was -3 and very foggy when I left the house at 6:15 this morning, but I came back to sunshine. The cats are happy. Blupus looks like a bear who has come out of hibernation. I appear to have lost my beanie somewhere. I bought a new bike and it’s aluminum and I tried to park it the other day but it kept tipping over and I was acutely aware someone was watching me flailing from a cafe window. I was feeling a bit under the weather last night and had to throw away half a stale kaassnack. End times.
Meanwhile, in the Netherlands:
In Delft, beware of the fraudsters posing as handymen. A resident of Schiedam caught 43 rats inside her house. (This is terrifying to me on a level I cannot explain.) They still cannot stop putting pistachio in everything. Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light is finally here! (The screening with a Q&A at IFFR sold out, and so I didn’t see it there.) It is showing at Filmhuis Lumen, and you should go watch it. (Though at the showing I went to, it was introduced in the most bizarre way possible which one could probably read as just blithe unawareness of the world, or Dutch directness.) The meest havermelkelite actie roundup of the weekend continues to be a source of joy. Everyone seems to have the flu. Almost 450,000 people in the Netherlands have long Covid. They still haven’t found the gold helmet and other Romanian artifacts stolen from the Drents Museum, but a costume shop is selling a 3D printed version of the helmet.
